      Smith Cannabis LLC is a professional nursing consultation service.  I provide education for individuals and healthcare professionals about legal methods to obtain botanicals for recreational and medical uses. Smith Cannabis provides education, not medication.

      As a cannabis nurse specialist, my consultations provide education about      consumption best practices, health benefits & precautions, obtaining medical authorizations, following local regulations & providing healthcare provider education.

      Based on your preferences and experience level, I will gently guide you to      discover the right options for you and your goals. 
• Where do you source your cannabis?
      Cannabis can be purchased at the local legal dispensaries in Virginia with a medical recommendation. Smith Cannabis provides education, not medication.
• How do you ensure product quality and safety?
      The cottage market is abundant in Virginia. One must be aware of product quality, labeling and safety measures when purchasing outside the legal cannabis dispensary.  

• What is the endocannabinoid system (ECS)?

           The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a complex biological system that evolved in response to cannabis exposure in nature. The primary function of the ECS is to regulate homeostasis and prevent disease and aging. The ECS role promotes relaxation, eating, sleeping, forgetting, and protection. By modifying endocannabinoid tone, the ECS protects against disease and aging (Foster, 2021). 

           The ECS functions similarly to other neurotransmitter processes, where specific elements trigger biological responses. The human ECS contains endocannabinoids (cannabinoids produced by our bodies) & cannabinoid receptors.

• What is the entourage effect?

           The entourage effect exists when all the components of botanical cannabis flower are consumed together creating a synergistic potentiating effect. (American Cannabis Nurses Association & American Nurses Association, 2024). In other words, “the whole plant is greater than the sum of its parts” (National Council of State Boards of Nursing, 2018), however more research is needed to substantiate the entourage effect.

      It is not wise to drive while intoxicated with THC, DUI laws apply.

                  One is not allowed to cross state lines with cannabis.   Store properly.

• Do I need a medical card to purchase cannabis?
      Adult use for those 21 and over is legal in Virginia. You do not need a medical recommendation to consume, however there are laws surrounding possession and sharing the cannabis botanical.  Cannabis remains Federally illegal.
• What is the legal age to buy cannabis?
      Virginia Commonwealth requires individuals to be 21 and over for recreational use. Children may benefit from a medical recommendation by a certified provider.
• Can I consume cannabis in public?
      Virginia law does not allow public consumption of cannabis products.
• Are there purchase limits on cannabis products?
      Yes, state laws apply related to purchasing products, amount limits, home      cultivation, sharing & transporting products.
